Jävligt Gotts Fooled Pork

Jävligt Gotts finally managed to make the most delicious fooled Pork - a vegan Pulled Pork.


  • 2 x 565g cans of Jackfruit in brine
  • 1 x 33cl bottle of ale
  • 1 tsp BBQ spice
  • 1-2 tsps smoked paprika
  • 100ml water
  • ½ vegetable stock cube
  • 400ml BBQ sauce
  • Salt and black pepper
  • Oil for frying


  1. Drain and thoroughly rinse the jackfruit. Fry on a medium heat along with spices, salt and pepper and oil for a few minutes and it gets a bit of colour. Then add the beer, water and the stock cube, cover and simmer for about 45 minutes
  2. Meanwhile heat oven to 200 degrees. Drain the jackfruit and place in an ovenproof dish. Cover with plenty of bbq sauce and stir (save about 1/3 of the sauce for later). Cook for about 20 minutes, then using 2 forks shred the jackfruit until it resembles pulled pork. Season with salt and pepper and add the remaining BBQ sauce and then cook for a further 5-10 minutes
  3. Serve with pickles, coleslaw, pickled red onion, salad, lime and coriander in tacos or in a burrito
